Only 3 days left before I see mayhem live, gotta tell you about that when I'm back hehe.
Have you guys heard black metal bands called Anorexia Nervosa (black sympho) and Hegemon (black), I don't really know if they're quite known outside France, there are really great bands if you can get your hands on one of their albums

TAOS for: The Arrival Of Satan. One album is currently available: "Darkness Dealer". St Vincant, one of the members, is also a member of the band Blacklodge. They play a kind of Black/Electro metal, while T.A.O.S play raw black metal (close to Darkthrone or Craft).
"Watch your tĂȘtes!" (Mercedes Lander in Paris, 26/10/2008).

Yes, I know those bands. I keep up with the French scene as it has some of the best hordes in the world. Plus the French make excellent beer!

Yeah, Averse are a cool band. But as I've said in another topic, Texas is the best scene in the US.

mmmm.... black metal.
i find it to be a very "hit and miss" genre. some of it is really excellent, some of it is really, really bad. i don't like mayhem much, although they certainly deserve credit for being the original group of the genre.
Favorites: Emperor, Dimmu Borgir (overproduced on their last two albums, but, they write some good stuff... they don't deserve all the flak they get for "selling out."), and my personal #1, Arcturus. if you don't know arcturus, you should. only their first album is black metal, their second two are more "avante garde." although, their latest album features guest vocals by Ihsahn of Emperor on one track.
you would probably recognise their band members.... drummer Hellhammer from mayhem (god, i love him) and vocalist Garm from Ulver. check em out....try "wintery grey" of the album Aspera Hiems Symfonia.

yes i agree with you my dying bride, there is alot of BM out there that is absolutely shit, but i guess thats to be expected with any genre, just like theres loads of crap death metal bands. I think mayhem have and always will be a band that either you like or you dont in my eyes, but yes they deserve all the credit they get.
As for emperor, i've never really been that big a fan, i think bands like dark throne have far much more to offer......but thats just my opinion...
